Hidden but not hard to reach. Accessible only by boat, Red Frog Beach is one of Bocas del Toro’s most iconic destinations. A golden stretch of sand backed by dense jungle and filled with life. It’s part of Bastimentos Island National Marine Park, a protected area home to sloths, monkeys, red frogs, and reef-lined shores.
Palmar is the only beachfront lodge tucked directly on Red Frog Beach, giving you rare access to this wild and untouched coastline and the feeling of having it all to yourself.

HOW TO GET TO PALMAR
1. Arrive to Isla Colón (main island in Bocas del Toro):
Getting to the islands is easier than it sounds. You can:
1. Fly from Panama City (1 hour), San José, Costa Rica (1 hour), or David, Panama (30 minutes) into the Bocas del Toro Airport (BOC) or,
2. Arrive by land to the mainland town of Almirante, where boats run regularly to Isla Colón, the main island in the archipelago.
2. Hop on a Water Tax to Isla Bastimentos/Palmar:
From Bocas Town on Isla Colón, hop in a water taxi for a quick 10-minute ride to the next island over. There's no schedule, they run on demand. It’s just like hailing a cab... But on the sea. We’ll message you the day before arrival to help arrange your pickup if you prefer having it arranged ahead of time, or you can simply let any boat driver know you’re headed to Palmar, they’ll know exactly where to drop you.
3. Walk Through the Jungle to Palmar:
We’ll meet you at the dock and walk with you along a short jungle trail, about 10 minutes, where the sounds of nature welcome you in. It’s your first taste of island life: no cars, no noise, just you, the trees, and the sea.
